Why is Post-op Massage important?

Inflammation and swelling start to occur following plastic surgery because the lymphatic system has been disrupted. The swelling is fluid in the extracellular tissues that is drained by the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is disrupted during plastic surgery. The fluid then sits in the soft tissues because the outflow has been disrupted. When the fluid sits for a long time, it triggers secondary inflammation which can lead to fibrosis (hardening of the soft tissue). Fibrosis can impact the final appearance of your body after full recovery and can take a long time to get rid of, if ever. Post-op massage moves the fluid out of tissue and decreases secondary inflammation and fibrosis.

Benefits of Post-op Massage:

We are an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance. At this time, Best Life Occupational Therapy accepts cash, checks, HSA/FSA, and credit/debit cards. Upon request, you may be provided with a "superbill" to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, as stated by your insurance plan's out-of-network benefits. No guarantee of reimbursement is made or assumed by providing a superbill.
